Andy Richards enters his first season as head coach at Lawrence Tech in 2016-17. Richards comes to Lawrence Tech from the Michigan Jaguars Soccer Club, where he works as a staff coach and recruiting coordinator. Richards began his collegiate coaching career at Oregon State University, where he was an assistant coach for the Beavers. After five years at Oregon State, he took the head coaching job at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he led the Falcons for 12 years, including three Mid-American Conference championships and two NCAA tournament appearances.

"I am very excited to build the program at Lawrence Tech into something special, something that everyone connected with the program can be proud of," Richards said. "My plan is to create an environment where my student-athletes have a positive experience, work hard and learn how to be strong competitors."

Richards will instill his philosophy which rests on three pillars: Work hard, show respect, and have fun.

"The hard work is expected both in the classroom and on the soccer field, and respect is expected towards oneself and each other," Richards said. "There should always be a sense of fun in what we do as we are all lucky to be participating in such a great game! That enjoyment should motivate us to give our all and to consistently show the will to win."
